WCFC is a choir of approximately 50 singers (Bass, Contralto, Tenor and Soprano voices) of all ages and musical interests. The musical director is Paul du Plessis-Smith who encourages choir members to improve their singing techniques and extend their musical repertoire.
Our Main Concerts
Normally in January of each year the choir presents a concert with professional soloists and musicians. The programme may consist of popular well known choral works as well as those performed less often. Owing to Covid resrictions our last “January concert” was actually on the 1st February 2020 when we gave a Celebration of European Choral Music with songs in French, German and Russian as well as Latin at the Chandlers Ford Methodist Church.
Each May, the WCFC joins with other Hampshire-based choirs in the Winchester & County Music Festival to perform major choral works at either Romsey Abbey or Winchester Cathedral. Our last concert with WCMF was in May 2022 which was the delayed Centenary event which took place at the Anvil Theatre, Basingstoke when we sang Handel’s Messiah with professional soloists and orchestra.
We are now looking forward to getting back to our normal routine with concerts with the Winchester and County Music Festival choir now renamed the Hampshire Choral Festival
